Over the years, one of my areas of focus has been in reference to thermal imaging. The thermal imaging cameras that I utilize detect radiation in the infrared range of the electromagnetic spectrum (roughly 9,000–14,000 nanometers or 9–14 µm) and produce images of that radiation, called thermograms.
A couple of months ago, I purchased the new FLIR ONE Thermal Imager that is compatible with the iPhone 5/5s. I have been carrying the FLIR ONE Thermal Imager with me and shot the photos (Below) within a Lab Data Center. A subset of these features (at a basic level) could be used for proper airflow verification and electrical load verification upon startup. I have been very impressed with the capabilities of this $350 Thermal Imager.
Overview
FLIR ONE is a lightweight accessory that in combination with its free app transforms your iPhone 5 or 5s into a powerful thermal imager. When you attach it to your iPhone and access the app, it displays live infrared imagery so you can see the world from a thermal perspective. FLIR ONE works by detecting heat energy, giving you the ability to "see" and measure minute temperature variances.
